crouching upon a barren iceberg
she demanded, with
faithful harp seal eyes and
taut lips -
as she was too
terrified of her own creaky
voice
to leap from her
tongue like a tiger
from an open
cage,
might her jaw
drop,
whether I would recoil
from her stinging touch;
unexpectedly,
her burning paws
melting my ice arms as
she strove to caress me,
chasing after my
frightened ashes as I
slunk into the ocean,
guiltily seeping into
a city of regretful
ghosts of ice men
